Need a Job Fast?

The state of the economy could make job searching much more competitive than it usually is. If you are finding that you aren't having any luck and need to get your bills paid there are several options that are available to you.

1. Temp Agency- The purpose of a temp agency is to help you find a job. What you want to do is apply just like you would do for a normal job and interview just like any job. Depending on the requirements for the temp agency you will be required to take a few assessments and they will ask you questions about your skills and trade. You will be hired on and when a job opens that matches you they will call you to let you know. A temp agency works as a middle man in helping you find a job. They get a cut from what you make for finding you. This is a good way to get your foot in the door or if you are looking for something temporary. When you get hired for a job with a temp agency it allows the employer to see what your work ethics are like and if they like you they may hire you on permanently.

2. Craigslist- You can always post your skills and services on Craigslist and offer to do it for a discount or cheaper price than most competitors. This is beneficial because you can build work references and also earn money at the same time.

3. Make money online- There are so many ways to earn online and some people have been able to quit their job to work full time online. One site that has a great list of money making opportunities can be found here

4. Start your own business- This can be hard to do at first or if you are a natural born entrepreneur this will come to you easily. You can start a business in almost anything such as computer services, beauty, professional services. You can sell items that you make, open your own pawn shop, etc. The skies the limit.

Good luck!

Furthering your Future through Education

Believe it or not sometimes just having a degree doesn't help. Many people end up with general degrees or degrees that aren't relevant. You have to learn how to apply your degree so that it benefits you. Often times people make the mistake of starting out in college and spending money on classes never knowing where they are going. It is best to start off at a community college or even enroll in online classes. Figure out which field it is that you want to go into. If you already know which field you can enroll in a school that is specifically geared towards your field. For instance, computers (tech school), beauty (beauty school), fashion design (fashion design school. It is good to take classes in a tech or trade school. This way you can get hands on experience and you want to make sure that the school is accredited. Employers like to see that their potential employee has experience and knowledge in the field they are pursuing. Education is becoming much more convenient with the help of the internet which makes it easier for busy professionals, parents, etc. There are many schools to choose from. When you have a degree employers are more likely to give you a higher salary and pay raises.

Sometimes even an associates degree suffices; it all depends on your employer. If so, you can always choose to continue your education for a bachelors or masters.

Benefits
-Save money because you focus on one field
-Gain hands on experience
-Looks good on resumes
-You will seem more knowledgable

Increase Job Options

There are many ways to increase your chances of getting exposure and preparing for your dream job.

Career Fairs- Many times companies host career fairs or sometimes your University will host one. Companies set up booths about their company and job openings and this is a great opportunity to speak to a hiring manager face to face and to ask the questions you've always wanted. This is also an opportunity to hand out your resume to prospective employers.

If you are interested in finding out if your city is hosting a career fair simply look it up on google.

Job Shadowing- This is a great opportunity to see what kind of field you might be getting into. Job shadowing is where you get to see from experience what your future job will entail and getting to work with the professionals and asking them questions. This is popular with high school students.

Internships- Internships are popular among college students. This is where you get to be in the actual field and do the actual work or some of it. Most internships don't pay money or below what they would actually make. However, this is a very good way to get your foot in the door and allow employers to see how well you do. This may lead to being hired as an actual employee and you gain experience.

Volunteers- Looks good on your resume and allows you to gain real world experience. If you are volunteering in the field you desire this may also be an opportunity to get hired on or gain positive references.
